I beg to move, That this House has considered the contribution to society of social workers.

I completely agree; the hon. Gentleman makes his point powerfully.

I was grateful to Unison and the British Association of Social Workers for the briefings they sent me in advance of the debate.

I think for the people in this room, every day is national social worker day.

Unbeknown to us, national social worker day is later this week—what we have achieved in the debate already!

Absolutely; Edward Timpson was an excellent Children’s Minister. He had a lot of respect in the sector, and rightly so.
