The Halifax branch in Brentwood is due to close on 10 September 2025 with the banking organisation citing the number of visits to our branch having fallen while transactions on phone apps and online have gone up.
I understand the number of transactions by personal customers using this branch have decreased by 53pc over the last five years and the Halifax it has to respond to the changing behaviours of our customers.
A spokesman for the Halifax said:
"Mobile banking is our customers’ most popular choice when it comes to day-to-day banking, with over 20 million customers now using our app to manage their money. It gives people the ability to view, understand and manage their finances in one place. Alongside our app, as Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland are part of the same group, customers can now use branches of any of these brands to carry out their everyday banking and get help from branch colleagues.
This means that customers can use the Brentwood Lloyds Bank branch, which is 0.18 of a mile away from the branch which is closing."
All customers who regularly use the branch will receive a letter with details of the ways they can continue to bank with the Halifax.
