Further update from Affinity Water 0930 4th October
"I wanted to provide you with an update on the disruption to water supply in CM15. Unfortunately, getting water supplies back to normal has taken longer than expected. The delay was caused by additional bursts on the network in the area following the power outage on 2 Oct. Our teams have worked tirelessly over the last two days and water supply should now be back to normal, although some customers may experience low pressure.
We continue to have road closures in place whilst we finalise our works and our bottled water station is still open for any customers that may need it.
As water supplies return to normal, customers may notice that their water is discoloured or cloudy, please be assured this is normal. It’s not harmful and is usually resolved by running the cold tap until the water is clear.
This incident has been fast moving and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and disruption caused to customers."
Update from Affinity Water - 3pm 3rd October
"Our teams worked through the night yesterday and restored supply to affected customers. Unfortunately, there is now further disruption to water supplies in CM15 due to burst water mains in the area. Our repair teams are on site to fix the bursts and we’re continuing to make adjustments to the pumping station and network. We’re monitoring this very closely, but customers may experience low water pressure during this time.
Due to our on-going repairs, we have two road closures in place.
- Wheeler's Lane, Brentwood, CM14 5SB
- Princes Road, Brentwood, CM14 5TQ
If customers find that they still have no water from their tap, we're providing bottled water until 10pm this evening at a new collection point:
The Eagle Pub, Ongar Rd, Kelvedon Hatch, Brentwood, CM15 0AA
We’re continuing to prioritise vulnerable customers on our Priority Services Register and providing bottled water deliveries this afternoon. As before, customers not currently on our Priority Services Register but are in need of bottled water, can call our team on 0345 357 2407.
Our teams are working as quickly as possible to get water supplies back to normal. We have notified customers in the area and apologise for the disruption caused. Customers can find regular updates on our progress at https://www.affinitywater.co.uk/alerts?id=10798
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates as soon as we can."
3rd October 10am
Affinity Water have been in touch with me with an update on the interruption to water supplies in CM15 and the surrounding area (Kelvedon Hatch, Chipping Ongar and nearby villages). They have explained a power failure yesterday (2nd October) meant customers were experiencing low water pressure.
Affinity Water have worked with the electricity provider UK Power Networks to get the power back up and running. They've also made adjustments to our network to ensure that the majority of customers in the affected area have water.
Water tankers have been deployed to provide additional water into the network; however, this means Affinity Water has had to fully close the road (Wheeler’s Lane, Brentwood, CM14 5SB).
Affinity Water say: "We appreciate our customers patience and understanding during this time and are doing everything we can to get water supplies back to normal as quickly as possible."
