Ingatestone Infant School celebrated its fiftieth anniversary this year and, in my mission to visit every school in Brentwood and Ongar, I decided it was time I went to say hello to the headteacher, Shelagh Harvey, staff and pupils.
The school has an Outstanding Ofsted rating and was praised for the positive support from its parents, and the evident enjoyment the teachers took when teaching the children. As with many schools, funding is tight, so the Prime Minister's promise of more money to be given to all schools over the next three years has come at the right time.
The infant school is popular and full - a proper village school for the children of Ingatestone.
