Brentwood and Ongar MP Alex Burghart will be wearing a wheat pin badge around Parliament, to show his support for Back British Farming Day on 13th September.
Alex said: “We have a healthy farming community here in Brentwood and Ongar, with wheat, pigs, potatoes, barley, oats and beans being produced. Many farms have diversified too, with offices and commercial units providing rural employment in the countryside.
“I have met with farmers from Brentwood and Ongar and I am well aware of the challenges and opportunities Brexit poses for them, and it is an issue I know I will be discussing with them many more times.
“Rural crime, from theft of heavy agricultural machinery to flytipping is far too common, and I am arranging a roundtable meeting between local farmers, councillors and Essex Police to discuss how best this can be tackled.” ENDS
