The last month has been busy as schools and Parliament return for a new term.
I was very pleased to be invited to the opening of the new extension at Mountnessing Primary School, which is doubling in size as it reaches its 150th anniversary of educating the children of the village and beyond.
I was also able to join the ten year anniversary celebrations at Becket Keys School which has grown and thrived in the decade since it was set up on the site of the former Sawyers Hall College/Hedley Walter High School.
The Brentwood Centre played host to the Limbless Association, a charity based in Billericay, for a morning of wheelchair rugby and cricket. The charity provides one-to-one peer support for amputees, before, during and after their limb loss, and it was great to meet its CEO, Deborah Bent, and so many people linked to the charity who had travelled to Brentwood for sports and social fun.
The Brentwood Centre was also the venue for the Brentwood Business Awards, albeit with a great deal of set-dressing which made the sports hall look very glamorous. My congratulations to all those who won, including SNAP for Best Local Charity, Hallmark Care Homes for Best Community Engagement, and Key Thurgood, of Sincerely Yours in Shenfield, for Best Business Person of the Year.
The Brentwood Business Awards reflect the strength of local entrepreneurialism and business acumen in the borough, and I have no doubt they will continue to thrive in the coming years.
