Many thanks to all those who have been in touch about Ongar’s broadband speeds – I am taking up your concerns with the Essex County Council and Gigaclear and will write to all those who have been in touch with any responses I received.
May brought a bumper crop of elections, with seats on Epping Forest District Council and Essex County Council up for the vote, as well as the role of Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex.
I am delighted Epping Forest District Council and Essex County Council – continue to be Conservative-led. Jaymey McIvor, who’s well known in Ongar for his florist and gift shop on the High Street, fought a great campaign to take the Ongar and Rural Division with 70% of the vote. Cllrs Ray Balcombe, Ian Hadley and Heather Brady were returned to Epping Forest District Council to continue their excellent work for Ongar and the villages.
Elsewhere, Roger Hirst will continue his superb work with Essex Police and Essex Fire and Rescue Service, having been re-elected as the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex. Roger is working hard to increase local policing numbers and holds regular meetings with residents across Essex - it is well worth attending to meet him and the local community policing team when he next comes to Ongar.
The Covid-19 news continues to be good, with infection, hospitalisation and death rates falling and vaccination levels rising. As the Ongar News goes to press, further easements are on their way. Fingers crossed, a summer of fun awaits.
