Many constituents, especially those in Ingatestone, Haverings Grove and West Horndon, are aware of National Grid’s proposal to build a new high voltage network reinforcement between Norwich, Bramford and Tilbury via an intrusive network of overhead lines and pylons.
Together with my fellow Members of Parliament from similarly affected constituencies, we have formed the Offshore Electricity Grid Taskforce (OFFSET), to firmly oppose the pylons proposal and call on National Grid to give due consideration to the offshore option, which has been used elsewhere in the UK.
We have written [see attached letter] to the new Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, the Rt. Hon. Claire Coutinho MP, to request a meeting to discuss our ongoing concerns about National Grid’s proposals and I will be in touch with all those constituents who have expressed an interest in this matter to update them when the meeting has taken place.
