The Member of Parliament for Brentwood and Ongar, Alex Burghart MP, has cut the ribbon on a new Barclays Local site in Hutton.
Located at St Peter’s Church, Claughton Way, Hutton, the Barclays Local service is designed to provide easy access for customers with digital and complex banking needs, with local colleagues on hand Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9.00am - 5.00pm offering face to face financial support and education for customers, without the need to travel.
Alex said: “While it is a shame to have lost the former banking facilities in the centre of Shenfield, I appreciate fewer and fewer people were using them as more customers decided to bank online. However, I am delighted Barclays has identified the needs of some customers who prefer to get their banking advice face to face and not online, and I am sure this new facility at St Peter’s Church will be very helpful. Having the banking advice service taking place while the popular Daily Bread Café is running should work well, and makes the service very accessible.”
Ian Lovelock, Barclays Deputy Customer Care Director said: “We’re delighted to launch the replacement banking service here in Hutton. This represents our commitment to customers and the local community who wish to continue to have an in-person banking presence by offering the ability to visit Barclays on their local high street, albeit in a different environment.”
Customers visiting the centre will be able to access a wide range of services including financial reviews, balance requests, open new accounts and have support with digital banking. As the St Peter’s Church is a cashless site, everyday banking transactions will need to be completed at the local Post Office.
