Having written for the Brentwood Gazette last week about the amazing trip to China being planned for students at the Anglo European School and Becket Keys school who are studying Mandarin through the Mandarin Excellence programme, and the week before about the magnificent building work carried out at Brentwood County High School, there is yet more good news on the schools front this week.
Eight more projects are being funded through the Department for Education’s Condition Improvement Fund, including work to be carried out at St Martin’s School, the Brentwood Ursuline Convent High School, Larchwood Primary School, Hogarth Primary School and Bentley St Paul's Church of England Primary School.
I know there are other schools in the constituency which have made bids, and the DfE will provide feedback to support them with future applications and, of course, I am always happy to add my support to these bids.
And that’s not all. The Government is sticking with its plan to provide the best start in life for children and has made £19,665, 525 available to Essex County Council to ensure children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), or who need alternative education provision, receive an education that meets their needs in high-quality environments.
I’ve been campaigning for more special school places to be made available to children with SEND living in Brentwood and Ongar and look forward to discussing with Essex County Council how this funding will be used, and how it will improve the education offer for children who have additional needs.
