If you watched the London Marathon at the weekend with some awe, and thought you would never be able to run 26 yards, let alone 26 miles, you might want to consider taking part in the Brentwood Park Run.
Park Runs take place across the UK, usually on a Saturday morning, and offer the chance to run - or walk - 5 km to get the weekend off to a fun start. Last week there were 781 parkruns in the UK with 161,072 parkrunners and 18,402 volunteers.
The Brentwood Park Run takes place every Saturday morning at 9am in Weald Country Park and is completely free. I am told by the organisers there is no better way to kick start your weekend than with some country air, socialising, running or walking and - they assure me - coffee and cake to finish off!
If running or walking is just too much for a Saturday morning you can volunteer to be a marshal to help the Park Run go smoothly. There's plenty of time to clap and encourage all those taking part too.
