Local businesses across Brentwood and Ongar need customer support more than ever following the introduction of Labour’s National Insurance Jobs Tax.
I've already heard from local businesses who fear they may not survive the Labour Government's Autumn Budget announcements, including rising Employer National Insurance Contributions (NICs), putting local jobs at risk. Sadly, nationally we have already seen the number of businesses closing in the week after Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ Budget increasing by 64 per cent, compared to the previous year.
We have some brilliant independent shops and market stalls in Brentwood and Ongar and I would encourage anyone doing their Christmas shopping this weekend to take a closer look at local firms to see what they have to offer.
Small businesses and family firms across this constituency make up the lifeblood of the economy here, offering easy access to a broader range of products than can be found in standard High Street stores. But the Labour Government has put all of threat under threat with their betrayal of business which is damaging the economy and harming working people.
As a Conservative I will be doing all I can to provide an effective opposition to stop Labour’s National Insurance Jobs Tax.
