Exciting things are ahead for the business areas and high streets of Brentwood, Ingatestone and Shenfield as work on the Brentwood Improvement District begins this month.
Businesses within the borough voted in favour of the plans for the Brentwood Business Partnership to work with Brentwood Borough Council to improve the high streets and shopping areas in the three communities, and make Brentwood a great place to live, work and invest.
I managed to catch up with Kaye Thurgood, who runs Sincerely Yours in Shenfield, and who is leading the work which will be done within the Brentwood Improvement District. Kaye told me the improvements will be within the themes of ‘Improving Places’, ‘Promoting Places’, ‘Welcoming Places’ and ‘Connecting Places’. In layman’s terms, this means the Council and businesses will be working together to put on events and project which local business people think will being people to the high streets and make them want to spend more time there.
We are fortunate in having many people in Brentwood, Ingatestone and Shenfield who go the extra mile to encourage people to come into town and make the most of all our high streets have to offer, from artisan markets, to Christmas fairs, to pop up stalls in the next few months.
