This is the third General Election campaign I have taken part in here in Brentwood and Ongar, having been first elected at the snap election of 2017.
IN the seven years I have represented Brentwood and Ongar in Parliament, I have been able to visit all our local primary and secondary schools, many businesses and companies providing employment and services in the area, and individuals in their homes, workplaces and social groups.
I have always been particularly impressed but the work so many people do in Brentwood and Ongar for free, to give others the chance to try new things and make new friends. Some good examples of this voluntary work were on display in the Baytree Centre last weekend, as part of the Brentwood Art Trail.
Young musicians from Brentwood’s Orchestras for Young Musicians gave a performance – the young people range from youngsters with Grade 1 cello to violinists and brass players who are studying for their Grade 8 music exams. If you have a young person in the house who is learning an instrument, this is the sort of group they can join to make music and new friends.
Brentwood Museum’s volunteers had a display of pictures and exhibits from times gone by in the town, and some of our talented artists were showing how art is a great way of relaxing and getting troubled minds in order.
We are very fortunate to have so many people with the time, strength of will and determination to enable so many activities to take place across Brentwood and Ongar throughout the year. And if I am re-elected on July 4th I look forward to visiting more of these groups and talented people to hear more about what they do.
